Growing Your Own Green Onions ... in water!

I was told if you place green onion ends (the part you normally just throw away or compost) in a glass of water, they will grow back!  This doesn't sound like rocket science, so I think it's something I can manage! Here it goes...

I started with a bunch of green onions

I cut the greens and kept the ends (leaving a couple inches on)

I placed the ends in a glass of water, just enough to cover.  I then placed them in the window sill to get some light

I ended up splitting them into 2 jars when I changed the water (I have been changing the water every 3 - 4 days) and OH MY are they growing!!! this picture was taken after a couple weeks.
